A group operating under the auspices of Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko Vanguard, comprising social activist, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), artisans, among other at the weekend said it has constituted teams to intensify its awareness campaign of the need for Lagos residents to participate in ongoing voters registration exercise and collect their Permanent Voters Card (PVC).

The Coordinator General of Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko Vangaurd, Mr. Seyi Bamigbade who disclosed this to journalists in Lagos said the group launched the House to House Campaign teams in Amuwo Odofin Local Government and Surulere Local Government areas of the state.

Bamigbade said the opposition in the state has agreed that the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has delivered on his election promises, saying he promised to make Lagos work for everyone and has done that for all to see.

Speaking at the event, the spokesman of All Progressive Congress (APC), Lagos State chapter, Mr. Joe igbokwe said the campaign for PVC collection was meant to prove a political point that Lagos is densely populated and the political hub of the All Progressives Congress.

He said they were working tirelessly to ensure nothing would change the five million vote targeted for the Governor Akinwunmi Ambode in the coming 2019 election.

Igbokwe said, apart from the performance of the governor in improving the infrastructure of the city, his handling of the state’s economy was another major reason why Lagosians must support him and mobilizing for more votes.

He said Ambode would further transform the state to a mega city if given another chance.

“In recognition of his hard work, we are going to come out in millions to support him once again through voting. Under his leadership, we have seen physical development across Lagos.

He lauded Hon Femi Gbajabiamila for his roles at the National Assembly and also appreciated the Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko Vanguard for their tireless assurance on the mobilization of resident for five million targeted votes for the governor.

Earlier, the Apex Chairman, Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko Vanguard, Hon. Segun Olulade, welcomed by Comrade (Engr.) Valentine Oluwaseyi Buraimoh, the Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government, urged Lagosians to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the 2019 general election.

He said they were satisfied with the governor’s performance in office and would support him again.

Olulade said: “I think we should take a good look at this House to House PVC campaign team set up in Lagos State today, it is for us to understand why it is being done. As we speak, it is as if the good people of Lagos have collectively decided to keep the governor on the job beyond 2019. Simply put, it is because he has performed. All the people and groups endorsing him gave that same reason and we can all see his achievements speaking for him.”
