Mr Bright Nasiri, a male beautician in Mararaba, Nasarawa, said on Monday that his passion for beauty inspired him to venture into makeup business.

Nasiri made the disclosure while describing the makeup business as viable and interesting to venture into.

He disagreed with the notion that the business was female dominated, saying that there were many men, who had excelled and doing better than their female counterparts in the business.

He further said that being in the make-up business made him feel accomplished “because I appreciate the beauty and I am passionate about the business.”

“As a graduate, I don’t want to start seeking for a job, so before I relocated from Abeokuta to Abuja, I thought of what I could do with my life, then I came up with an idea.

“I decided to work in a cosmetic shop where they also do makeup. Although the pay was not encouraging, yet I made up my mind to learn the make-up thing from the make-up artists there.

“I later discovered that it was a great source of income, so I decided to stick to it,” Nasiri said.

He said that he had been doing well since he set up his own beauty shop and had many apprentices under him, including males and females.

According to him, “It is a thing of passion and interest and those of us engaged in it find it interesting due to the variety of styles involved.

“Basically, the business is lucrative and I have made a lot of customers even though many complain about the economic recession,” he said.

Nasiri, however, said that the makeup business was not seriously affected by the recession because women had the penchant for make-up in order to attract attention and compliments from others.

He said, “women love to look beautiful regardless of whatever situation they found themselves and they do that to impress their husbands or boyfriends.

He advised the young ones to engage in vocations they had a passion for, “regardless of what it is, as long as it is legitimate and can help them to earn a decent living.

“Well, it requires courage and passion and depends on the individual, provided you are doing the right thing.

He encouraged Nigerians to carry on with whatever they do with dignity, saying that “only a man who has not experienced hardship that can say he will not do something legitimate to earn money.”

“The good thing is that you are adding value to it, solving problems and making your money in order to meet up with your responsibilities in life,” Nasiri said.
