Minister of Mines and Steel, Dr Kayode Fayemi reportedly walked out of a meeting convened by the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in Abuja to find solution to the party’s governorship crisis in Ekiti State.

One of the aspirants and former deputy national chairman of the party, Segun Oni, however, denied that Fayemi walked out on the APC leaders.

He said Fayemi, like others went on a break and will later resume for more discussion.

At the meeting was the former chairman of APC, Chief Bisi Akande.

Reports revealed that the party’s 33 aspirants for the July 14 governorship election rejected a consensus arrangement and instead opted for direct primary.

The National Headquarters of the party had already fixed Friday for the conclusion of the primary.

Chief Akande told journalists later that a decision that would be in the best interest of the party would be conveyed to the party leadership in Abuja.

“Primary elections are already written in our constitution, but all we are after is the happiness of the generality of the leadership, the contestants and our party in general,” Akande said.
