Knocked out of senate race: Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State

NYSC

Gov. Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe state has asked corps members posted to the state to partner with the state government in the areas of education, health and environment.

Dankwambo made this call at the closing ceremony of 2018 Batch ‘A’ orientation course for Corps members on Wednesday at NYSC temporary orientation camp in Amada, Akko Local Government Area of the state.

The Governor, represented by his Deputy, Charles Iliya, said that his government had prioritised the needs of his people in education, health and environment; hence the need for assistance in that regard.

According to him, education, health and environment are the key sectors that have enjoyed the state government’s attention since the inception of his administration in 2011.

“I urge the corps members to partner with the government in the area of education and also complement government’s efforts toward improving the living standard of our people.

“In addition to education, corps members should also assist in the provision of manpower for qualitative free medical services, environmental sanitation and beautification programmes.

“My administration has demonstrated its commitment to the transformation of the education sector in the state, by declaring education as my first, second and third priority.

“We have also embarked on the construction, reconstruction and renovation of infrastructural amenities, provision of teaching facilities as well as recruitment of both teaching and non-teaching staff.

“These, we have done to remedy the dearth of staff in our various schools across the state,’’ the Governor said.

He assured that the government would provide the enabling environment and the necessary support for corps members to galvanise developments in their host communities.

He, however, warned against any frivolous excuses by corps members not to live up to expectations as agents of change in their respective host communities.

The Parade Commander, also a corps member, said that the corps members would do their best to contribute their quotas to the development of the state and the country.

A total of 1,624 corps members were posted to Gombe State as 2018 Batch ‘A’ comprising 863 males and 761 females.
