Nigerians launch Atiku’s campaign group in South Africa

Indication that Nigerians are relentlessly preparing for 2019 election has been proven by various groups of Nigerians residing in South Africa, under aegis of Nigerians in Diaspora, which launched a unanimous campaign group, Atikunation Independent Campaign Group (AICG), for former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar presidential ambition, the move of which was aimed at working with whichever political party the former VP chooses for the race.

They said that the group’s goal was to ensure Nigerians elected right people who have policies and programs that could deliver needs of common Nigeria and that the AICG was a non-governmental and non-profit-oriented support organization, and unaffiliated to any political party.

However, the Chairman, Atikunation Independent Campaign Group (AICG), and former President, Yoruba in Diaspora, Pretoria Chapter, South Africa, Funsho Ademoye, said that the group was put in place to rally supports from Nigerians in Diaspora for Atiku’s presidential ambition and that the 2019 election would not be about political parties, but that of candidates.

In a statement after launching of the group in South Africa recently, Ademoye stated that the AICG’s aims were to promote democracy and good governance in Nigeria by latching on to virtues, strength and good leadership qualities of Atiku and that Nigerians in Diaspora were ready to campaign for the former vice president so as to be duly elected come 2019 election.

He explained that, in order to achieve objective, AICG was not only willing but also ready to work with whichever political party or platform Atiku settle for, such that would fulfill Nigerians in Diaspora collective goal.

According to him, AICG is a Forum that bring well-meaning Nigerians in various spheres of endeavors; industry leaders, Professionals, Students, Business Groups, Farmers, Religious/Cultural Bodies, Artisans, and Entertainment Industries both home and abroad together.

He informed that the group’s common goal was desire for a virile and prosperous Nigeria; a democratic nation, where the rights of the citizens as enshrined in the constitution of the country would be respected; where ethnic, tribal and religious sentiments would no longer divide its people.

“A Nigeria where a Yoruba man from Ekiti State can migrate to Kano State, become an indigene of Kano State, have the equal rights and opportunities as a Hausa man who is a biological citizen of Kano State and live peacefully without any fear of harm, victimization or discrimination”.

“Our mission is to mobilize well-meaning citizens of Nigeria from every nook and cranny, promote democracy and good governance as encapsulated in His Excellency Atiku Abubakar and let the citizens know the benefits to be derived from electing a true and passionate leader like His Excellency Atiku Abubakar as President and Commander in Chief of the armed forces of our great Nation Nigeria in 2019.”
