Ramadan: Yobe Govt. approves. N63.5 million for feeding of indigent persons

Yobe Government says it has approved N63.5 million for the feeding of indigent persons during the Ramadan.

Abdullahi Bego, Director-General, Press Affairs to the Governor disclosed this in a statement he issued in Damaturu on Wednesday.

He said Gov. Ibrahim Gaidam approved the money for the provision of Ramadan feeding (Iftar) to the less privileged in 42 centres across the 17 local government areas of the state.

The director-general said that the amount also covered the conduct of ‘Tafsir’ preaching during the forthcoming Holy Month.

According to the spokesman, N48.5 million will be used for the purchase of rams and cooking condiments for the 42 feeding centres.

“N15 million will be used for the payment of allowances for Muslim preachers who will guide the Muslim faithful through the Holy Month.

“The governor has also approved 1, 260 bags of rice and 630 Jerrycans of cooking oil to be used in the 42 designated feeding centres during Ramadan,” he said.
