Mr Asaju Kolawole, the Regional Head of Communication of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), Ilorin zone, has warned customers against paying cash or inducing its enumerators during their assignments.

Kolawole, who gave this warning in an interview with newsmen on Thursday in Ilorin, said that the enumerators were only out to access the company’s assets and facilities for improved service delivery.

He said: “Our customers should avoid paying cash or induce any favour from the enumerators.

“They should make their transactions at the appropriate IBEDC outlets across the state,” he said.

He explained that the Electricity Distribution Company DISCO began its Asset Customers Enumeration (ACE) exercise across its districts in Kwara in April.

“The exercise is the technical audit of our assets and the data capturing of the existing and prospective customers,” he said.

According to Kolawole, it involves the identification of developed, undeveloped and vacant properties within its franchise.

He added that the benefits of the programme include reduction in estimated billing and improved accuracy of billing with better power supply and quicker fault response time.

According to him, there will be the identification of obsolete and damaged equipment such as meters, transformers, poles for upgrade and replacement.

“There will also be reduction in power interruptions, enhanced customers service delivery, proper planning for potential customers and their payment rates,” he added.

Kolawole called on customers to cooperate with the enumerators to ensure a smooth exercise in the state.
