The Zamfara Government, has purchased 30,000 metric tonnes of fertiliser for the 2018 wet farming season in the state.

The Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Lawal Jangebe, made this disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gusau on Wednesday.

Jangebe said that the fertiliser would be sold to farmers across the state at an affordable price, which would be announced later.

He added that the sales and distribution of the fertiliser would begin on Saturday in Nasarawa-Burkullu village, Bukkuyum Local Government Area by Gov. Abdul’aziz Yari.

Jangebe said that the present administration since inception, had been supporting farmers with agricultural inputs at subsidised rates.

“In 2017, we procured more than 20,000 metric tonnes of fertiliser under the same commitment, which has yielded an increase in food production across the state,” he said.

Jangebe reiterated the State Government’s commitment to support the Federal Government’s policy of ensuring food security and sufficiency.
