As part of strategies to encourage children to speak out whenever they faced molestation, Dorothy Njemanze Foundation says it has introduced children to film-making by creating a movie series entitled “Akachi”.
Ms Dorothy Njemanze, the Founder, made this known on Friday in Abuja while speaking on the preparations of her organisation for the 2018 Children’s Day celebration.
“We have launched a movie series called `Akachi’ on all social media platforms and most of our characters are teenagers.
“The movie is all about young girls and women who indulge in unsafe abortions.
“You know children have a way of relating with what they watch, especially when it is their age grade who is on the screen.
“That is why they easily emulate such characters; so, indulging these young ones in film will go a long way in influencing other children.’’
Njemanze said that the foundation would continue to advocate for the rights of the girl-child and gender-related issues in view of the importance of children to the society and national development.
“Our foundation has taken it as a point of duty to create a platform to discover young talents in culture and creative arts.
“This will in turn foster a sense of pride and cultural awareness for them to speak out whenever they are molested,” she said.
