Hajiya Walida Isa, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Zamfara State Coordinator, on Thursday said 83 inmates from Gusau Prison have benefited from the NYSC free medical outreach.

Isa disclosed this at the public enlightenment campaign on HIV/AIDS and Drug Abuse organised by the NYSC at Gusau central Motor Park.

According to her, the outreach conducted on Monday was part of the activities of the NYSC to mark the 45th anniversary of the scheme.

“A total of 83 inmates including 60 males and 23 females suffering from various health problems have been treated under this programme.

“Apart from the outreach, we also carried out environmental sanitation at Gusau central market on Tuesday.

“We are now conducting public enlightenment campaign on HIV/AIDS and Drug Abuse all to mark the 45th anniversary of the NYSC scheme.

“You know, Community Development Service (CDS) in NYSC, so these activities are example of CDS aimed at assisting our host communities,” she said.

According to her, the NYSC scheme since inception had played an important role in promoting national unity, peace and development.

The coordinator, therefore, urged the entire NYSC family including staff and corps members to continue to work hard and be dedicated.
