The All Progressives Congress (APC), Zamfara chapter, has expressed readiness to partners with journalists in the state to ensure effective coverage of the activities of the state government.
Alhaji Lawal Liman, Chairman, APC, Zamfara, expressed the party’s wish on Thursday in Gusau, when members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) paid him a courtesy visit.
Liman said, “the media will continue to be an integral part of the development of this nation as it strives to objectively disseminate information on activities unfolding within and outside government.
“It is also worthy to advise that as the people charged with the responsibility of reaching out to both the government and the governed, you should live above board.
“You do this by not allowing yourselves to be manipulated by individuals, groups or sentiment.”
The party chairman gave the assurance that the party would carry all media practitioners in the state along in its activities.
Liman promised that the party would liaise between the media and the state government in order to achieve good information management.
He appealed to the journalists to always go to the rural communities in the state and get information on their feelings about government.
He said that media reports about the rural areas would enable the government to know what the agitations and desires of the people were.
Earlier, the Chairman of the chapel’s Credentials Committee, Abba Kabara, said that the visit was to congratulate the party chairman over his new responsibility.
Kabara said: “you utilised the media while you were Commissioner for Health and we believe that the relationship will continue so that together we can move the state forward.’’
