Kwara CP decorates 134 officers

The Kwara State Police Command has decorated 134 officers and urged them to imbibe selflessness and dedication in the discharge of their duties.

The Kwara Commissioner of Police, Aminu Saleh, said on Tuesday in Ilorin that of the 134 promoted officers, 90 Inspectors were promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).

He said 23 officers were also moved from the rank of ASP to DSP while 13 officers got promoted from the rank of DSP to SP.

He said seven officers were promoted from the rank of SP to CSP, while one officer was promoted from the rank of CSP to ACP.

Saleh commended the people of Kwara for the cooperation extended to the Command, which made the job of policing the state very successful.

“More needs to be done, current crime statistics in the state indicate that homicide cases are prevalent in Kwara North, especially among the Fulani youths.

“While illicit drugs and other substance abuse, cultism, and unprovoked attacks is mostly common in Ilorin metropolitan.

“Farmers/herdsmen conflict is seen more in the southern Zone of Kwara.

“Leaders of this communities are called upon to synergise with the Police and to come up with workable strategies to address their peculiar challenges,” the CP said.

He explained that the need to ensure a peaceful and harmonious Kwara prompted the creation of a special response team code named Kwara Command Response Team (KCRT) to tackle emergencies.
