The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Jos zone, has condemned the recent killings in Plateau, describing it as “barbaric and totally unacceptable.”

The Zonal Coordinator of the commission in Plateau, Mrs Veronica Abe, made the commission’s position known in a statement on Wednesday in Jos.

Abe stated that “NHRC is saddened that the sanctity of human life is no longer upheld”, pointing out that many Nigerians had died from sectarian crises, Boko Haram killings and farmer-herders conflict.

She lamented that the perpetrators of such heinous crimes were hardly brought to book to serve as a deterrent to others nursing such evil intentions.

She called on Plateau Government and the security agencies in the state to find a lasting solution to the incessant killings and the loss of property as government owed its citizens protection and security.
