A prominent politician in Adamawa and former member of the National Assembly, Sen. Jonathan Zwangina, has described the death of Malam Adamu Ciroma as a deficit to the nation.
Reacting to the death of the elder statesman in Yola on Friday, Zwangina said Ciroma was a political role model who earned the respect of his colleagues, including his political opponents.
“The lost of Malam Adamu Ciroma is not only for his family but to the entire nation.
“I got to know Ciroma very closely when we were in People’s Democratic Party ( PDP); he was one of our respected elders, very humble, patriotic and educated statesman.
“In fact, I found Chiroma as a mentor, someone I look up to as a role model and try to emulate, ” Zwingina said.
Also in his condolence message, Gov. Mohammed Bindow of Adamawa said Ciroma passed away at a time the country is in dire need of his wealth of experience to handle challenges.
In the message, issued on his behalf by his Special Assistant on Publicity, Macauley Hunohashi, the governor described the late statesman as an accomplished politician and administrator.
He recalled his role as a minister in Shagari administration when he spearheaded the implementation of laudable programmes, especially in the area of food production.
He also recalled his administrative dynamism which earned him the chairmanship of Presidential Transition Committee that was mandated to restructure the administrative system that was going through a crisis of confidence.
