The Edo Government on Monday assured traders and residents of Evbaike spare parts market in Egor Local Government area of the state of its readiness to rehabilitate the link road to the area.

The Deputy Governor, Mr Philip Shaib, made the promise in Benin while addressing traders and residents of the area who were on a peaceful walk to draw government’s attention to the poor condition of the road.

Shaibu said the government would soon embark on construction of the drainage system in the area to pave way for construction of the road.

He said as part of measures to ensure that the community benefitted from government’s projects, he would have regular meetings with representatives of the youths to discuss way forward.

He promised that government would make the area a viable business environment it was known for.

Shaibu called on the youths to go about their normal duties and to protect government’s properties.

Earlier, the Spokesman for the traders, Idehen Osamudiamen, said that the poor condition of the road had reduced their sales drastically.

Osadudiamen appealed to the state government to urgently fix the road to enable them connect with their customers.
