Accreditation and voting have begun on a peaceful note at the ongoing governorship election in Ekiti State, Southwest Nigeria.

From reports gathered across the 16 Local Governments of Ekiti State, the election is on peacefully and orderly.

INEC officials and security agencies arrived early at the polling stations. Electorate are out in large numbers, party agents, media, local and international observers are also out.

“The weather is good, we look forward to a great outing. Kudos to all the stakeholders for today’s exercise so far,” says Nelson Ekujumi, an election observer.

“The voters are out in large numbers, INEC officials arrived on time, party agents on ground, the media too and local and international observers.

“So far it’s been peaceful and orderly in polling units visited in Ado Ekiti and it’s our hope that we sustain it throughout the exercise and after,” Ekujumi added.
