Maj. Gen. Rogers Nicholas, the Theater Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, said that two soldiers were wounded in the ongoing clearance operation against Boko Haram insurgents in Bama Local Government Area of Borno.

Rogers gave the clarification on Monday in Maiduguri while reacting to reports that some soldiers and military vehicles went missing in the attack by the insurgents at Kwakwa community of Bama.

He disclosed that only an officer and a soldier sustained injuries in the attack, adding that the wounded soldiers were receiving treatment at a medical facility.

“It is not true; we did not loss anybody in the operation, we had only two injuries, one officer and a soldier wounded.

“The General Commanding Officer (GOC), 7 Division, Brig. Gen Abdulmalik Biu, has just come from Bama. He went there to assess the situation in continuation of the clearance operation.

“We need to work with facts and we are always ready to share information with the media so that you present true situation of events,” Rogers said.

He tasked journalists to always check facts with relevant authorities, and assured them of continued support to enable them to discharge their constitutional mandate.

The commander reiterated the commitment of the military to end insurgency and restore peace in the northeast.
