A 35-year-old man, Junior Ubah, was on Thursday brought before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos
for allegedly belonging to a cult known as Eye confraternity.

The accused is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and belonging to an unlawful society.

Ubah, who claimed to be a clearing agent at TinCan Island Ports, Apapa, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Prosecutor, Police Sgt. Lucky Ihiehie told the court that the offences were committed on July 30 at Fadeyi off Lagos-Ikorodu Expressway.

Ubah and two others still at large were caught with a truck loaded with stolen excavators belonging to a Chinese company, he alleged.

According to him, the accused, who was arrested by a police patrol team at midnight of July 30, was later taken to the Alausa Police Station,
Ikeja.

The offences contravened Sections 42 (9) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs E. Kubeinje granted, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

She said the sureties must show proof of means of livelihood with an evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government for two years.

The case was adjourned until Aug. 28.
