The University of Agriculture, Makurdi has been shut down following students’ protests over the death of their colleagues who were knocked down by a commercial bus, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

Our correspondent, who visited the school on Wednesday, met students racing out of the premises to meet the deadline given them to vacate.

Mrs. Rosemary Waku, the institution’s information officer, who spoke on the development, said that the measure became necessary to avert an escalation of the protests which could lead to the destruction of property.
