Alhaji Suleman Ogah, Chairman Ebonyi state Council for Islamic Affairs, has advised youths not to allow themselves to be used wrongly by politicians.
Ogah gave the advice on Tuesday during the Eid- el-kabir prayer in Abakaliki as they join other Muslims in the world to mark the day.
He admonished the Muslim faithful on the need to pursue unity, peace and patience, which he described as apt in Islam.
“The led should have faith in their leaders, pray for them and likewise the leaders should also know that the led have right which should be considered.
“It must not be interest of the leaders all the time, “Ogah said.
The Chief Imam of Hossanna Mosque in Abakaliki, Malam Ishiaka Adamu condemned the act of killings being experienced in the country and also charged all to ensure unity.
The Imam stated that the essence of sallah centered on sacredness of human life and no one has any right to take life of another.
He said that killing of human being for whatsoever reason was condemned by Koran.
“Everyone must be conscious of their dealings so that they do not kill either intentionally or unintentionally, “Adamu said.
The leader of Yoruba Community in the state, Alhaji Adekunle Mohammed said that the celebration was geared toward reminding every Nigerian that every life was liable to tests and trials.
“Everyone existing is been tried but with faith those problems will become a thing of the past. Nigerians must be patient,” Mohammed said.
Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) with Mopol 32, Abakaliki and a Muslim faithful, Alhaji Yusuf Bala said that the festival was essential to the Muslim faithful and mankind.
“This festival is in line with what was recorded about Abraham, who had wanted to use his only son Ismail for sacrifice,” Bala said.
He, however, charged both Muslims and non Muslims not to allow themselves to be used for unnecessary destruction of life and property, especially in the forthcoming general election.
