APC has failed to provide employment, Reps aspirant alleges

A House of Representatives aspirant in Ogun State, Alhaja Basirat Shonekan-Umaru has blamed the security lapses, mass unemployment, life-threatening poverty, fall in education standard on bad governance by the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
Shonekan-Umaru who is contesting for the Abeokuta South Federal Constituency seat under the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) urged the electorate to vote out APC in 2019.
The aspirant who spoke at the party’s secretariat in Abeokuta stressed the need for a paradigm shift in the representation of the people at the national level.
“As a woman who has nurtured a very happy home, coupled with a blossom career, my experience would be brought to the fore if am elected,” she affirmed.
According to her, “the time has come for a break from the old ways for a purposeful and fruitful change and restoration of hope, for responsible government and dynamic representation of our people in Abeokuta.”
On her plans for the State if elected she said, “I will give priority to projects that will affect the lives of the people positively. I will work with the federal government of Nigeria to reduce the number of unemployed youths, unemployed people in Abeokuta”.
“I have been able to empower many people in Abeokuta under Ola-Iya foundation which was birthed in 2014. About 1500 people have benefitted from the interest free soft loans ranging from #10,000 to #50,000 per beneficiary,” the aspirant stated.
