25-year-old man remanded for phone-snatching

A Magistrates’ Court in Minna on Friday ordered the remand in prison custody of a 25-year-old, Bello Mohammed, for alleged phone-snatching.

Mohammed was charged with theft, contrary to Section 287 of the Penal Code.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Moses Emberga, told the court that the accused on Aug. 26 snatched a Techno phone, valued at N55,000, from Elizabeth Haruna.

Emberga said that the accused injured his victim on her left leg in the process of snatching the phone.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Magistrate, Mariam Kings, ordered that the accused be remanded and adjourned the matter until Sept. 12 for further mention.
