Man, 21, in trouble for kicking friend’s private part

For allegedly kicking his friend in the private part during an argument, a 21-year-old man, Johnson Ekuma, was on Friday brought before a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.

Ekuma, who resides in Bariga area of Lagos, is facing a one-count charge of assault to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Modupe Olaluwoye, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Aug. 7, at 3.00 p.m., at Adeniji Street, Bariga, Lagos.

Olaluwoye alleged that the accused kicked the complainant, Adeleye Olushola, in his private part during an argument.

“My Lord, the accused is a friend of the complainant, during a simple argument, he assaulted him.
“The complainant ended up in the hospital as a result of complications from the kick to his manhood,” she said.
The offence contravened Section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (revised).

Section 173 prescribes three years imprisonment for the offence.
Chief Magistrate Oluwatoyin Oghere granted the accused N100,000 bail with one responsible surety in like sum.

Oghere said the surety must also show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government (LASG) as part of the bail conditions.

The case was adjourned until Sept. 26 for mention.
