Scott Miller, the head of the U.S. armed forces in Afghanistan, said in a statement that the death was a “tragic loss’’.
According to the military, this is the sixth death of a U.S. service member in Afghanistan this year, in addition to other members of the U.S.-led coalition.
The U.S. is leading NATO’s Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan, which is ongoing since 2001.
