No fewer than eight out of the 43 medical students of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD), scored distinction, while others also recorded 100 per cent success in their final medical examination.

The Spokesman for the six-year-old institution, Mr Tunde Olofintila, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria, (NAN) in Ado Ekiti on Thursday.

Olofintila said that the university had broken academic records in the country, noting that all the first set of its medical doctors graduated with 100 per cent success.

“The feat is unique in many ways; apart from scoring 100 per cent in the final medical examination.

“Eight out of 43 students that sat for the external medical examination made distinction, an equivalent of first class in other disciplines.

“The rare accomplishment made ABUAD the first university in the country to produce medical doctors within six and half years of its existence.

“Some other universities which commenced their medical programmes two decades ago, have yet to graduate their first set of medical doctors.

“What our university has just achieved is in line with the vision of the Founder and Chancellor, Chief Afe Babalola, to help the Federal Government and indeed Nigerians to turn the face of the nation’s educational sector around,’’ he said.

Olofintila gave an assurance that with the exceptional quality of training acquired by the new doctors from ABUAD, the nation would witness a new dawn of improved health care delivery.
