Nasarawa governorship aspirant to prioritise agriculture

Mr Ja’afaru Ibrahim, a governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa state, has said that agriculture would be given top priority when elected in 2019.

Ibrahim, a lawmaker representing Nasarawa/Toto Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, stated this on Tuesday when he visited the Osukwo of Obi, Alhaji Aliyu Dangiwa-Orume in Obi.

Ibrahim said that the sector have the potential of providing adequate jobs for the teeming unemployed in the society through direct and indirect involvement in farming and its value chain.

“Aside job creation, the agriculture sector has the capacity to increase the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the State, thereby making it self relient.

“This is why I am going to make it my top priority if I become governor in 2019,” he said.

Ibrahim said he would support farmers in the state with soft loans and other farming tools so as to motivate them to take farming activities as a serious business.

“My focus is to create more jobs in the state through agriculture. So, I will do everything possible within my power to make it viable,” he said.

The aspirant assured the residents of total safety of their lives and property in the state, noting that peace breed development in any society.

Ibrahim told the paramount ruler that his visit was to seek royal blessings, adding that his desire to join the race was out of his passion to contribute to the development of the state.

Responding, the Obi thanked the aspirant for the visit and urged him to be peaceful, mature and Godly as he go about canvassing for votes and support across the state.
