Female M.D arraigned over alleged N20m

The Female Managing Director of Topfun Nigeria Ltd, Abiodun Giwa, 48 has been arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate Court for allegedly obtaining the sum of N20 million from the Management of Cybernetics Construction Solution Ltd under false pretence.

The accused was charged before an Igbosere Magistrate Court on a three-count felony to wit, obtaining money under pretence and stealing.

Also charge with her was Topfun Big Ltd.

Police Counsel, SP J. Oloruntoba, a Legal Officer with the FCIID, Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos informed the court in charge No B/95/2018 that the accused committed the offence in March, 2016 in Lagos.

Oloruntoba told the court presided over by Chief Magistrate Folashade Botoku
that the accused who is the Managing Director of Topfun Nigeria Ltd collected the sum of N20 million from the Management of Cybernetics Construction Solution Ltd with the promise to use the money to facilitate a contract for them.

Oloruntoba said that after the accused collected the money from the complainant, she failed to provide the contract till date and also failed to refund the N20m million back to the complainant, leading to her arrest.

He said the offences the accused committed were punishable under sections 411, 314 (1)(a) and 287 (9)(b) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence in the open court and Chief Magistrate Botoku granted her bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties in like sum.

Botoku adjourned the case till 22 October, 2018 for mention.
