Netherlands train collision kills 4 children

Four children were killed in the South-East Netherlands on Thursday when a train collided with a carrier bicycle, police said.

Another child and one adult were seriously injured in the crash, which took place on a level crossing at around 8:30a.m (0630 GMT) in the city of Oss.

The e-bike involved is commonly used to transport children by childminders and daycare centres.

The reason for the crash was unclear.

Witnesses told Dutch radio that the victims had been school children.
