The Lagos State Government on Wednesday kicked off campaign against drug abuse in state schools.

The campaign, which was tagged Lagos State Kicks Against Drug Abuse, LASKADA is scheduled to run across the Six Educational Districts in the state.

According to the LASKADA Committee Chairman, Mr. Olabode Ajao, the campaign was one of the measures put in place by the state government in order dissuade young people of the state from indulging in drug abuse.

Ajao noted that the menace of drug and substance abuse has eaten deep in the society, saying the government would not fold its hand and watch the young people especially school children get destroyed in the hands of drug abuse.

He added that the school children who participated in the sensitization would serve as ambassador and volunteers of the campaign in taking the message back to their peers.

Ajao appealed to the School Administrators, Counsellors and Teachers to support the State Government through continuous sensitization of the school children on the dangers of drug abuse.

Also, Head, Corporate Affairs Diamond Bank, Mrs. Afe Chioma, said the issue of drug abuse has become worrisome and as such there is need for aggressive campaign against it in the society especially the young people.

Diamond bank pledges to continue in its effort to support the initiative of the State Government in curbing the menace of drug abuse in the state.
