The Lagos State Government has begun the second phase of its Eko Youth Academy Leadership Training Camping Exercise at the Ipaja Youth Hostel, Lagos.
The leadership training initiative which started few weeks ago has trained over 500 youths where 60 participants emerged with impressive and outstanding performance.
The exercise also seeks to improve the participants ability to understand and contribute positively to the State’s vision and policies having acquired the leadership skills needed.
According to the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Agboola Dabiri, the camp exercise was aimed at inculcating in youths the virtues of citizenship, leadership, volunteerism among others for the development of their personalities, society and the nation at large.
He added that the camping exercise would emphasise more on learning strategies based on fun, group work and individual challenges; teaching life skills rather than academic lessons.
Agboola informed that “at the end of the camping exercise, the participants who distinguished themselves as the exceptional and outstanding ones will be named State Youth Ambassador 2018 while the other leading participants from each division will also be named Divisional Youth Ambassadors.”
The Commissioner, while congratulating the participants for being members of the 2018 Ambassadorial team, implored them to exercise high level of commitment, responsibility and decorum in the course of their stay at the camp, saying it will help to project the importance of the camping exercise.
