For allegedly brandishing some dangerous weapons publicly, two men, Olukayode Falana and Godwin Eyo, were on Thursday brought before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun.
The accused — Falana, 24, and Eyo, 23 — are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, membership of unlawful society and breach of peace to which they pleaded not guilty.
The duo with others still at large committed the offences on Sept. 28 at 10.00 a. m. at Ogba Ayo, Ota, Police Prosecutor Abdulkareem Mustapha alleged.
Mustapha said the accused and their accomplices conspired and conducted themselves in a mannner likely to cause a breach of peace by using some dangerous weapons to threaten the peace of the community.
He also alleged that the accused belonged to unlawful society called Aiye Confraternity.
The offences contravened Sections 5, 249 (d) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
Ruling on the bail application of the accused, Chief Magistrate Mathew Akinyemi granted them bail in the sum of N200,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
Akinyemi said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
He adjourned the case until Dec. 12 for further hearing.
