The National Orientation Agency (NOA) on Thursday said it would redouble efforts at sensitising people on the importance of peace and harmony in the society.

The Kaduna State NOA Director, Zubair Galadima-Soba, said this following the recent uprising in the state, which was curtailed by security operatives with a 24-hour curfew imposed by the state government.

Galadima-Soba, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) said even though peace had been restored to the state and the curfew relaxed, the agency had the duty to intensify campaign on the need to keep peace.

“We will task people to keep peace and understand that this country belongs to all of us; no Nigerian has the authority to push out other Nigerians from any part of the country,” he stressed.

He noted that the agency would engage in community dialogue at grass root level to enlighten people on their right as citizens to live, own property, freedom of movement and association.

According to him, the dialogue would make people understand that no one has the right to harass or inflict pain on anyone under the guise of not being an indigene of a particular area.

The Director also mentioned that media would be engaged by the agency to ensure that they set agenda on peace and peaceful coexistence among people.

He, therefore, appealed to well meaning Nigerians to ensure they keep peace as government had put up mechanism in place to resolve any crisis.

“The police and other security agencies are there ,where you can report any breach or wrong done to you by your neighbour or passers-by.

“There are courts of law that are there to ensure justice among people, therefore, there is no reason to take laws into our hands,” he explained.
