The Lagos State Government on Monday charged Directors in Administration and Human Resources cadre under its employ to come up with innovative ideas and embrace global best practices for effective service delivery.

Head of Service, HOS, Folasade Adesoye, while speaking at the opening of the 2018 training programme for Directors in the Administration and Human Resource cadre, at the Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, said the Administration and Human Resources cadre had a pivotal role to play in ensuring that due process and good image were preserved in Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs.

The theme for the 2-day programme is: “Value based Leadership: A tool for enhancing Service Delivery in the Lagos State Civil Service.”

According to her, the participants were expected to have some sizeable knowledge and understanding of the operations of other fields of human endeavours, inclusive of those MDAs that were classified as the exclusive domain of professionals such as lawyers, engineers, doctors, among others.

She said “achieving that would only be possible through deployments, which would not only apprise you with their ‘assigned responsibilities’ but also expose you to their modes of operation.”

The HOS appealed to the directors to always be enthusiastic and accept deployments with every sense of duty and commitment, as service-wide deployment enhanced career growth and development.

Adesoye charged the directors to keep abreast of modern development in the profession and take advantage of the training programme to sip from the robust experiences of the crop of presenters, facilitators and moderators while the training lasted.

“Only an opportuned gathering such as this would provide the necessary setting for conducting proper appraisal and proffering enduring solutions that will make us better focused, relevant and more productive at our respective duty post,” she said.

Adesoye said the training was in furtherance of the conscious and deliberate efforts of the Akinwunmi Ambode led administration towards achieving the ideals of professionalism in the state service.

“Use this forum to reactivate old bonds and network and also build new ones that would promote healthy interface and ultimately translate to knowledge-sharing in your different posts with a view to achieving higher productivity”, she stated.

Director of Training, Office of Establishments, Ministry of Establishments, Training and Pensions, Aruna Ayodeji urged the participants to key into the training as much was expected from them, adding that they should possess the mindset to learn and inculcate what they had learnt to their subordinates in their various units for improved productivity.

‘To whom much is given, much is expected. Governor Akinwunmi Ambode places much premium in ensuring qualitative service delivery,” he said.
