The Speaker of the Abia House of Assembly, Mr Chikwendu Kalu, has expressed shock over the death of frontline politician and patriot, Chief Tony Anenih.
Kalu, in a statement issued to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Umuahia by Mr Okey Chikwendu, his Chief Press Secretary, described late Chief Anenih as a bridge builder.
The Speaker regretted that Nigeria had lost a very prominent contributor to national development.
He said the late patriarch rendered selfless services a Deputy Commissioner of Police, the state Chairman of the defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN), as well as National Chairman of the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP).
He said Chief Anenih had also made positive impact as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) as well as a former Minister for Works.
Kalu also said that the chronicles of Nigerias’ political history would not be complete without mentioning the quintessential contributions of late Chief Anenih.
He said the late politician was known to be uncompromising on issues bordering on the unity and progress of the nation.
The Speaker prayed God to give his immediate family, political and professional associates the grace to bear the huge loss.
