The Jigawa Government says it will construct and equip 23 more health clinics across the 27 local government areas of the state.

Dr Abba Zakar, the State Commissioner for Health, disclosed this in Dutse on Tuesday during the bidding for the award of construction of the clinics.

He said more funds would be provided for in the 2019 budget with a view to providing health care delivery to the people at the grass roots.

The commissioner who was represented by the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics of the ministry, Alhaji Bayero Kyambo, said that the gesture was aimed at fulfilling government’s plan on health.

He said added that the gesture would also help achieve the recent presidential declaration of having at least one functional health clinic in each political ward of every state.

He said that as at the time of opening of the bidding, 61 companies had indicated interests to win the contracts for the construction of the hospitals.

Zakar said that the transaction between the state government and the companies passed due process.

He said that evaluation would take place immediately where list of successful bidders would be publicly displayed.
