Teenager remanded over attempt to commit unnatural offence

A Tunfure Chief Magistrates’ Court, Gombe, on Thursday ordered the remand of 18-year-old Suleiman Adamu, over alleged attempt to commit an unnatural offence.

Though Adamu denied committing the offence, the Chief Magistrate, Mr Japhet Maida, ordered for his remand and adjourned the case until Nov. 13 for further mention.

The prosecutor, Insp. Habibu Danjuma, had told the court that Adamu, a trader at Yalanguruza quarters, Gombe, committed the offence on Oct. 10, at the same address at about 5.p.m.

According to the prosecutor, the defendant took a “six-year-old boy of the same address to a corner and removed his trousers with the intention of having homosexual intercourse with him.’’

Danjuma said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 95 of the Penal Code.

He applied for an adjournment as investigation is still ongoing.
