Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia has reiterated the commitment of the state government towards improving the health sector by promoting effective healthcare service delivery.

Ikpeazu said this on Monday during the distribution of medical supplies to some government-owned health facilities and a mission hospital in Umuahia.

The medical supplies were donated by Life Resources International, an international donor organisation, in partnership with Zikora Foundation, a non-govenmental organisation.

The governor, who was represented by Dr John Ahukanna, said that the present administration was desirous to bequeath total and qualitative healthcare to the people?

He said that the health policies and programmes of the state government were informed by the need to reach the less privileged, especially people at the grassroots.

Ikpeazu said that the state government would not hesitate to support any venture that would make healthcare services affordable and accessible to people.

He thanked the donors of the medical supplies for complementing Abia government’s health programmes and disclosed that another shipment of medical equipment would be delivered to the state government before the end of the year.

Ikpeazu said: “I am making a personal appeal to the officials that would be handling these materials to ensure that the aim of providing the medical supplies would not be defeated.

”If you happen to get equipment that you don’t know how to use get in touch with the relevant agencies to ensure that you are educated on how to use it.”
