Emir commends Kebbi govt over sugar company establishment

The Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Samaila Mera on Monday commended the Kebbi State Government for efforts in establishing a sugar factory in the state.

Mera gave the commendation while briefing newsmen in on Monday in Argungu Local Government Area.

“On behalf of my people in the emirate, I wish to express our appreciation to the Kebbi State Government for its intention to establish sugar factory in our emirate,” he said.

The monarch acknowledged that sugarcane seedlings had already been provided, adding that land had been cleared in preparation for the take-off of the factory and the cultivation was in progress.

“The 30 million US dollar company will, no doubt, produce sugar and ethanol biofuel as well as provide jobs to 25,000 unemployed youths in the area,” he said.

The emir also commended Gov. Atiku Bagudu for the remarkable policy aimed at improving the economic wellbeing of the emirate and the state.

“We will cooperate fully in order to ensure that the state government actualises the sugar project,” he assured.
