Ondo Commissioner mourns late Sports Writer

The Ondo State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Hon. Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye has commiserated with the family of a veteran sports Journalist, Jide Fashikun.

In his condolence letter, made available to newsmen in Akure on Sunday, the commissioner prayed God to grant the family of the deceased, the fortitude to bear loss.

He noted that before his sudden death, late Fashikun had impacted so much in different sectors, especially recently in Ondo state.

“It would be recalled that Fashikun was before his demise, our partner in progress, especially in the area of sports development and talent graooming in the state,” he said.

Fashikun had served as chairman, Kwara state chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria and Sports Editor of Herald Newspapaers.

He also served as the Managing Editor of Gong News, Senior Sports Correspondent at Thisday Newspaper and was also a lecturer at Kwara Polytechnic.
