Scores of youths have stormed streets in Surulere area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria to drum support for the governorship ambition of the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu (BOS).

The house-to-house street campaign was organised by a group, Street Voices, with the slogan, ‘BOS Your Street.’ They stormed Aguda, Bode Thomas and Bab Animashaun areas of Surulere on Sunday with branded yellow wears with Sanwo-Olu’s picture and inscription.

They distributed fliers and convince residents on the need to vote for Sanwo-Olu in March’s governorship election in the state.

The brain behind Street Voices is Rasaq Ivori.

He said the campaign was aimed at reaching out to well meaning Lagosians, students and the working class, who were scared about getting to campaign rally grounds as a result of anticipated violence and were undecided about who to vote for.

“BOS Your Street,’ means trying to attract those voters who never come out to campaign ground, who see campaign ground as a violent place where people fight, shoot gun. A lot of well meaning people, working class, students, run away from campaign ground because of violence, they are always indoor until the final hours, So Sanwo-Olu decided after receiving Rasak Ivori to design ‘BOS Your Streets’ to cater for such people usually on twitter and social media,” he explained.

According to him, “BOS Your Street starts with advert online, facebook, twitter where they said if you which to campaign for Sanwo-Olu in your street, all you need to do is to retweet messages shared about Sanwo-Olu by individuals on their handles and walls with their pictures #BOSYOURSTREET and you will be provided with brand items you need to campaign with

“We reacted to over 7,000 retweets and request for brand items, some from Surulere, Ikeja, Somolu, we split ourselves, call these people who provided numbers and gave them the t-shirts. The request are going on. The more these people pose pictures and their friends see them, they want their streets to be BOS.”

Ivori said the more people take pictures and shared online, more people demanded for their streets to be “BOS” and the idea continues to spread to other areas.
