Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Thursday in Benin inaugurated the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme in Eyan Primary School, Uhunmwode Local Government Area of Edo, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

Osinbajo said that the programme was part of President Muhammadu Buhari administration’s N500 billion Social Investment Programmes (SIPs) in collaboration with Edo Government.

He said that the programme would feed 9.3 million children every day.

He said it would as well benefit farmers, fisher communities and caterers, adding that with everyone involved in the programme, it would be of major benefit to the country.

The vice president also said that the N-Power programme would be expanded to capture more graduates seeking more skills.

Osinbajo said that Nigeria was endowed with capacity and resources to make life better for its citizens.

He said that the competitiveness of Nigerians in the global economy remained President Muhammadu Buhari’s goal for Nigerian youths.

Gov. Godwin Obaseki of Edo lauded the vice president for his social intervention programme which, according to him, improved the lives of vulnerable Nigerians.

He said the feeding programme was not inaugurated until now in Edo because the state was test running Edo Basic Education Transformation Programme (EDO BEST) geared towards transforming the future of teachers.

The vice president also inaugurated the campaign at Ikpoba Oka Local Government Area of the state where he promised more jobs for the good people of Nigeria.(NAN)
