The Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Ohogua, Edo, on Monday, said that the plan to assist some of the IDPs in the area of education by the Atiku Abubakar wife led GEDE Foundation, was a welcome development.
Mr Solomon Folorunsho, coordinator of the International Christian Centre for Mission (ICCM), home of the IDPs, disclosed this in Ohogua, near Benin in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo.
Folorunsho said the plan to assist the IDPs, who have secured admission to higher institutions by the Dr Jennifer Abubakar, GEDE Foundation, would ease the challenges of the centre on the education of the children.
He disclosed that no fewer than 60 of the IDPs had secured admission into various higher institutions across the country.
He noted that while 26 of them just secured admission into the current academic calendar, no fewer than 30 of them have been studying in various institutions, including the University of Benin (UNIBEN).
According to him, it has not been easy coping with the various needs of the children, including that of their education which I consider a priority.
“It is, as a result, this that we at the camp, welcomed the plan to assist the children by Dr Jennifer Abubakar when she visited us recently.
“We will also welcome anybody, organisations, with good intentions to assist the over 3000 IDPs that we have here, we are not political and will welcome everyone from across divides.
