INEC needs to be more credible in conduct of elections – Diplomat

Mr Otiteh Ikeadueme, Vietnam Diplomat to Nigeria, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to be more credible in conducting its elections.

Reacting to the election postponement on Saturday in Abuja Ikeadueme said that the action taken by INEC was uncalled for.

According to him, the postponement is uncalled for as I see the unpreparedness of INEC, they should have been better prepared.

“It is not a good one at all. We will have expected better security for the ballot papers and sensitive materials for INEC workers and premises too.

“I think it is postponed because of security reasons and that shows that we are still not secured in this country, “ he said.

The diplomat, therefore, advised INEC not to delay in holding the elections which could give room for manipulations.

“They should try and be more credible in conducting the elections,” he said.

He however, advised Nigerians to keep calm and be more observant.
