Election: Obaseki says turnout impressive

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, says the turnout of voters for the ongoing presidential and national assembly elections is impressive.
He said this Saturday morning, after casting his vote at Oredo ward 4, unit 19, Emokpae Primary School.
Obaseki arrived at the polling centre in company of his wife at about 9.45, and waited on the queue till about 10.15 when he voted after being was accredited.
Commenting on the exercise, Obaseki said the turnout of voters was large but orderly.
He also commended the presence of security operatives.
According to him; “It’s been smooth so far. As you can see, the turnout is very large and orderly.
“Am quite impressed with the security arrangement. As we were driving here, I could see a lot of policemen on the road. So far, so good. We’ve not receive any incidents.”
The Governor disclosed that his party worked to prevent voter apathy.
“It was anticipated, but our party worked very hard, government at different levels worked to sensitize voters to let them see the need to overcome whatever the postponement caused them,” he said.

He called on residents who were still holding back to come out and exercise their franchise.
“My message is that everyone who has his PVC should endeavor to come out early enough to complete this process,” he said.
