House of Reps: Igbinedion's daughter loses to APC

Omosede Igbinedion, candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has lost to Dennis Idahosa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the race to the House of Representatives for Ovia Federal Constituency.

INEC’s returning officer, Prof. Victor Igbinedion of the University of Benin, said Dennis Idahosa polled 28,509 votes to retire the incumbent lawmaker who scored 23,345 votes.

The result​ was announced at Iguobazuwa, the administrative headquarters of Ovia South West local government area.

Prof. Igbinedion announced that the APC candidate won 18 of the 23 wards in the constituency, while the PDP candidate won five.

In his speech, the victorious Idahosa thanked God and the people of Ovia for his victory.

He promised to give effective representation and better lives to the people of Ovia.

“I thank God Almighty and the good people of Ovia for everything. I dedicate the victory to the act of God,” he said.
