Professor Chima Anyadike, 70, who has taught literary theory and prose fiction in Universities in Africa and the USA for many years, retired from service at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, where he taught for over four decades.
Series of events which included valedictory lecture, play, and a grand reception party were held in his honour on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 September 2019.
Three books were also presented to the public in celebration of the highly revered don.
The books are Complex Realities; Wisdom and Uncertainty: Essays on African Fiction by Chima Anyadike; and The Idea of African Fiction: Essays in honour of Professor Chima Anyadike, edited by Chijioke Uwasomba.
