Golden Globe awards: nominations unveiled

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has announced the 2020 Golden Globe nominations, with the remake of the Lion King bagging two nominations, animated movie and best original song.

Other animated movies nominated are: Frozen 2, Toy Story 4, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World and
Missing Link.

Joker was also nominated for several awards, Best Motion Picture, Best Director and best performance for an actor.

Cynthia Erivo, the Nigerian-British actress was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama, for her lead role in Harriet.

The nominations were unveiled today at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles today by Tim Allen, Dakota Fanning, and Jamaican-American, Susan Kelechi Watson.

The 77th Annual Golden Globe Awards will air live on NBC coast to coast on Sunday, Jan. 5 at 8 p.m. ET and will be hosted by Ricky Gervais, who is back for a fifth — and what he claims is a “very last” — round of insults.

It was previously announced that Tom Hanks will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award and Ellen DeGeneres the Carol Burnett Award at the Globes ceremony.
