LMC Overturns Disciplinary Sanction Against Nasarawa United Attacker Paul Seun Komolafe

The League Management Company (LMC) has officially overturned the disciplinary sanction earlier imposed on Nasarawa United FC attacker, Paul Seun Komolafe, after determining that the punishment resulted from a case of mistaken identity.

The decision followed an appeal submitted by the player in connection with a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) fixture between Nasarawa United FC and Plateau United FC, played on 17 November 2019 in Lafia. Komolafe was initially booked during the encounter, a decision that subsequently led to a disciplinary ruling issued by the LMC on 25 November 2019.

Challenging the ruling, Komolafe maintained that he had been wrongly identified as the offender during the incident in question. Upon receipt of the appeal, the LMC conducted a comprehensive review, which included an examination of the match officials’ reports, available evidence, and relevant provisions of the league’s regulations.

In a letter dated 18 December 2019, the LMC confirmed that the booking and the resulting disciplinary sanction were issued in error, having arisen from a case of mistaken identity. The appeal was therefore upheld, with the LMC formally acknowledging that Paul Seun Komolafe was not the player involved in the incident.

Consequently, the disciplinary action previously imposed on the Nasarawa United forward has been set aside and declared null and void for all disciplinary purposes. The LMC further confirmed that no adverse record relating to the incident would be retained against the player.

The ruling fully clears Komolafe of any wrongdoing and restores his immediate eligibility to participate in all football-related activities without restriction.

The LMC also expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and commended the player for his professionalism and cooperation throughout the appeal process.
