NCAC DG, Runsewe reacts to court judgment

Director-General of the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), Otunba Segun Runsewe has disclosed that some people wanted him hounded into jail and removed from office because he refused to sell the Arts and craft village to them.

Otunba Olusegun Runsewe on Friday said his battle to prevent some people from appropriating the land of Abuja\’ Art and Craft village which he valued at about N9.8 billion was at the root of his current travails.
Otunba Runsewe spoke at a press conference he called to react to a court order sentencing him to prison for disobeying a court order stopping him from removing the roof of one of the structures in the Art and Craft Village on Thursday.
Runsewe refused to speak about the court order at the press conference as he noted that his lawyers are already taking the necessary steps to vacate the order. He also said he will appeal the court order.
However, Runsewe said some people wanted him thrown out into jail because of his determination to retrieve that Art and Craft village from those who had turned the place into their private property.
He revealed that before his intervention, the Art village which was opposite the popular Sheraton Hotel, Abuja has been turned into a den of criminal activities and a depot for
