A 58-year-old Ibrahim Ibuoye was on Wednesday arraigned before an Ota Magistrates’s Court for alleged damage to a fence belonging to Winners Chapel Church, Ota, Ogun State.
Ibuoye, whose address was not provided is facing a three-count charge of malicious damages, forceful entry and conspiracy.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Abdulkareem Mustapha, told the court that the defendant and others still at large, committed the offences on Jan. 20 at about 5.48 pm at Feru Village, Oguntedo Lafenwa,Ota.
Mustapha said that the defendant and his accomplices conspired among themselves to unlawfully entered by destroying the fence of a land belonging to the church.
“The defendant also damaged the gate of the Winners Chapel Church which the value is still unknown.” he said.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 390(9), 457 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The counsel to defendant, Mr O. A Akanbi, urged the court to grant the defendant bail in liberal term.
Senior Magistrate, Mathew Akinyemi, granted the defendant N1 million bail with two sureties in like sum.
Akinyemi ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and should be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
He said that the sureties should also provide notable means of identification as part of the bail conditions.
The case was adjourned until Feb. 26 for further hearing.
It was however gathered that following his inability to meet with the bail conditions, Ibuoye was conveyed back to the correctional facility.
